why iron nail sinks in water and the cork float on the surface

Because density of cork is less than the density of water where as density of iron nail is greater than the density of water which results to the sink of iron nail

That's because the density of an iron nail is much more higher than that of the cork and in addition the volume of the iron nail is less while the volume of the cork is more.
