don't you know that platypus and echidna belongs to group prototheria it may be a connecting link between CLASS AVES and CLASS MAMMALIA this can be proved by concept of evolution so i has a conclusion that platypus may be formed from ducks which belonged to class aves so it may lack well developed reproduction as that in other mammals.

hello there !!!!

Echidna and platypus are belong to the group Prothatic.
Hence , they have a link between Ages and mammals.....This is due to the evolution.....
These are earlier mammals but they have some character of aves or egg laying...... they are put in mammalian family.......

hope it helps you
