Why is brahmaputra called the sollow of the Bengal?

nown as dihang,Tsangpo( tibet) enters india near Namcha barwa peak or brahmaputra gorge after running parallel to the himalayas for over a 1000 miles. Two enormous rivers find slope of the land ( gradient) carrying them towards lowlying Bengal( now west bengal and bangladesh).
