Democracy is considered the best form of government because:

• It is an accountable form of government.
• It improves the quality of decision - making.
• It provides a method to deal with differences and conflicts.
• It enhances the dignity of the people.
• It allows to correct its own mistakes.

However, there are demerits of democracy (arguments):

• Leaders keep changing.
• No scope for morality.
• Corruption.
• Delay in decision - making.
• Illiteracy and politically unconscious voters.
• Power play and political competition.
