The ideology of Swadeshi is important to increase the income of local markets and to increase the domestic market and economy.

EXPLANATION:

The term Swadeshi is made of two words, Swa meaning self or one's own and -Desh meaning country, so the meaning of this word means products or goods made in one's own country.

It was first applied in the fight for freedom struggle in Bengal where Swadeshi Movement was launched in 1905 to boycott foreign goods and to promote self-made khadi clothes because heavy import taxes are imposed on such clothes and this benefited the British government.

Similar to this, in today's concept also when foreign goods are imported from other countries, an import tax is imposed on it. Besides, it is also very harmful to the domestic and local markets.

Foreign goods are generally machine-made and hence are cheaper so people usually buy them. But, it destroys domestic market, hence it should not be promoted. And, this is why the people believing in this ideology don't want foreign companies to enter India. And for this, they had held several protests against the foreign goods also.
