Why is ozone layer called Ozone umbrella/shield

it is called so bcoz it traps the ultraviolent radiations of sun and does not let them enter on the surface of earth

Ozone layer is also called ozone shield because it protects the earth from ultraviolet rays.Thos is because it is also called ozone shield or ozone umbrella
