why is refining of petroleum done ?which property is used in the refining of petroleum? what are the fractions obtained at the base and at the top of the fractionating column

Hi friend,

Refining of petroleum is done to take the different fraction. Different fractions are taken out from crude oil.So we can use them at different places.

The fraction at the bottom Residue and above it lubricating oil and at the top it's Petroleum gas.
