Total number of students=12+8+5+15=40
No. of students with blood group A or AB =12+5=17
P(E)=No. of favourable outcomes/Total no. of possible outcomes
P(E)=17/40

Since, The formula of Probability= No.of favourable outcomes/ Total no. of possible outcomes
We'll take out the total no of students= 12+8+5+15= 40...........(1)
And, No. of students with blood group A or AB =12+5=17 (As Required)....(2)
Putting eq. (1) and (2) in the formula, we get
P(E)=17/40
Therefore, the answer is = 17/40
