To control over India, British had to many wars and battles with local rulers in India.

  • There are few important battles like Carnatic Wars, Battle of Buxar, and Battle of Plassey in the history of India.
  • Though the battle of plassy laid the foundation of British Empire in India, Buxar battle was of more important.
  • Battle of Buxar established the British as masters of Bengal Bihar and Orissa and made them a of great power of Northern India and contenders of the Supremacy of the whole country.
  • Battle of Buxar is more significant than Battle of Plassey because after that Indian economic and political condition had a very bad effect on the situation and the situation of many states had gone very bad.
  • Battle of Buxar was more significant as the company could defeat the combined forces of nawabs Bengal and Awadh along with Mughal emperor of Delhi.
  • This exposed the weakness of Indian rulers including the Mughal who were still considered strong as compared to the European forces.
