Because equality is the foundation of democracy. Without equality we cannot have a democratic government. For a democracy to establish it is necessary that all the citizens should be treated equally without any discrimination in the basis of caste, creed, religion, gender, place of birth, belief, skin colour, race, language, nationality etc. Without equality we cannot think of democracy
