Answer: The Iron and Steel industry is referred to as heavy industry because all the raw materials needed for the manufacturing of products as well as the finished goods are heavy and bulky. Their cost of transportation is also very high and they require very good railway connectivity nearby. Moreover, their labor costs are also more and they need an efficient system to deal with the ample waste products they release.

(i) There is a need to allocate resources for research and development to produce steel more competitively.

(ii) We need to regularise the supply of energy and improve the infrastructure for better production.
