Why is water not good to extinguish fires caused by petroleum products?

1 Water contains oxygen ...that helps to burn more...

2 Water is haveir than petrol therefore it slipes down permitting petrol to raise the surface and continue to burn....

because water contains oxygen which helps them to burn...and water is heavier than petrol that's why it will goes down and makes the petrol float on the surface
