INTRODUCTION:Metamorphosis is the transformation of the larva into adult through drastic changes.

Meta means -beyond ;morphe means -form.

Example are frog,insects etc.

THE TERM METAMORPHOSIS IS NOT USED WHILE DESCRIBING HUMAN DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

1)Humans belongs to viviparous category (directly give birth to young ones)

2)Only internal fertilization takes place(zygote & development of foetus  takes place inside inside the mothers womb or uterus)

The process of human growth does involve change, yes, but we humans don't change our form completely. If you take the classic example of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, then the larva stage (caterpillar) looks completely different form the adult butterfly. However, in us human, certain changes take place, but we don't change our form completely.
