Why key should be removed while not taking observations from electric circuit?

it is usually advised to switch of the circuit while not taking the reading during the verification of ohm's law because when the current is passed through the resistor , then due to the heating effect , the temprature of the setup rises and hence , ohm's law cannot be verified properly as ohm's law states a condition of constant temperature
