Why pumice stones use in measuring boilin point of water?

Porous pumice stone pieces are added to the liquid to be boiled to avoid bumping of liquid when the temperature is raised. These pumice stones have fine pores within themselves which provide space for the air. This air make a little bubble in the liquid which can facilitate the boiling process.
