because in leguminous plants there are legumes in their roots where rhizobium bacteria resites and this bacteria consume nitrogen gas from air ,convert it into simpler form to which the leguminous plants can consume . it is basically symbiosis relationship in which plants provide shelter to the bacteria and the bacteria gives nitrogen in return,.
