Most plants can aerate their roots because the roots of the plants need oxygen for respiration and they cannot take oxygen from the process of photosynthesis so for that the roots of the plants take oxygen from the surrounding environment of the soil. Roots absorb oxygen from small holes present in the soil. Many organisms like ants and earth worms etc dig small holes in the soil and thus, oxygen enters in these holes and use by the roots.
