nacl is an ionic bond and the bonding is very strong whereas sodium do not consist any bond and is highly unstable

Sodium chloride is an ionic compound. Which is formed by the attraction of oppositely charged particles.Hence they possess strong forces of attraction between the charged particles.

Sodium metal involves only metallic bonding which is however weaker than the "ionic bond"

Cheers!
(Due to ionic bonding NaCl becoms a little stable than Na itself)
