  1. In Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf led a military coup in October 1999. He overthrew the democratically elected government and declared himself the 'Chief executive' of the country.
  2. In August 2002 he issued a legal framework order that amended the Constitution of Pakistan.A/O to this order, the president can dismiss the national and the provincial assembly.
  3. After passing this law, elections were held to the national and the provincial assembly.Pakistan had elections but the final power rested with the Musharraf nd his military officers himself.
  4. People may have elected the representative but they can't take the final decision.
  5. The power to take the final decision rested with the Musharraf himself. Thus, we can't call it democracy.
