why protons are called canal ray and electrons are called cathode ray​

We say that because canal rays are also known as positive rays, they are beams of positive ions. As i’m sure you know a proton isn’t a positive ion but they do transport protons in the same way that cathode rays transport electrons. Thank you for requesting my response.

in a glass tube when it travel s from cathode to perforeted anode it travels from anode like traveling as from canal so it is the ans
