Sewing machines contain many, many discrete parts, and many of them move. There are dozens or examples of each of the simple machines in a sewing machine- the inclined plane, the cam, the crank, the wheel, and other ones I may be forgetting.

A basic sewing machine can be divided into a large number of sub-assemblies that all do different jobs. I think that’s a property to expect in a complex machine.
