why sewing needle has pointed end?

so that it has the capacity of easy penetration using less effort ... less the surface area less is force needed

The end of a sewing needle is pointed so that it can peirce cloth without using a lot of effort. If the end of the needle is not kept sharp, one would face a lot of difficulty in sewing.
