Why should a fuse with defined rating not be replaced by one with a larger rating ?

Well the rating are given so that if the current beyond the value of rating passes the fuse should melt and thus protect the appliances but if we take a larger rating than the specified one then the current of higher voltage will flow and thus damage the appliances

If we replace by larger rating then the current passing through if exceed the limit then the fuse wire will not melt and hence all the electrical appliances will damaged
