Why should drinking water be chlorinated? Are there any harmful effects of using
chlorinated water?

This is a science question of 5th grade, Pls give a suitable and simple answer

Answer:

  • Chlorine is used to keep our water clean by disinfecting it and killing germs. And it does a marvelous job at eliminating most pathogens from the water we drink.
  • Using or drinking water with small amounts of chlorine does not cause harmful health effects and provides protection against waterborne disease outbreaks.
  • Chlorinated water, as long as it contains low amounts of the ion, is perfectly safe to drink.
