(a) an ammeter by very small?
(b) a voltmeter be very large?

Explanation:

The reason for ammeter resistance to be low is because it can accurately read the current flowing in the circuit. When the ammeter resistance is low, almost all the current in the circuit is allowed to pass through the ammeter.

Voltmeter has high resistance because it measures the voltage difference between two different points, but it should not change the amount of current going through the element between those two points . So, it should have high resistance

Answer:

a) The resistance of an ammeter should be very small so that it may not change the value of the current flowing in the circuit.

(b) The resistance of a voltmeter should be very large so that it takes a negligible current from the circuit.
