Deserts are, by definition, DRY. Plants need WATER to grow. If there are no plants to HOLD DOWN THE So, the soil has a tendency to turn to DUST and small particle.LIKE SAND, where the WIND can EASILY pickup the dust and particles and MOVE THEM.
