Cotyledons are present in every seed.

Cotyledons are the very first part of every plant to emerge from the seed.

These are formed within the seed with the endosperm.

These are classified plants based on the number of cotyledons present. Cotyledons can function to provide the initial growth for the plant.

The two classes of flowering plants can be differentiated by the numbers of seed leaves like monocotyledons or having one blade, dicotyledons or having two round cotyledons.

For Instance, the seedlings of pine have up to eight cotyledons.

It is however true that the seedlings of some flowering plants do not have any cotyledons at all. They are said to be a-cotyledons.
