why the f block elements are known as inner transitional elements?

Transition elements have 2 outermost shells incomplete. Again, f block elements are transition elements, which are placed outside the periodic table, because if they were placed in the original table, they would distort the shape of the table.

Hence, they are called inner transition elements (as they are transition elements present inside the table but outside the original table).
