To see closer object, ciliary muscles must decrease the focal length of eye lens. ... Due to this a normal eye is not able to see clearly the onjects placed closer than 25cm. This distance at which objects can be seen is clearly is called least distance od distinct vision or near point

(i) The minimum distance at which an object is placed from the normal eve so that it can be seen clearly without giving any strain on the eye is called the distance of the distinct vision.

(ii) This distance is 25 cm for a normal human eye.

(iii) If the object is placed at a distance less than 25 cm, ciliary muscles is unable to adjust the lens there is a strain on the eve and it cannot be seen clearly.

(iv) Hence an object should be placed at 25 CM or more to have a clear and sharp image of it on the retina.

1)when we try to see a nearby object, the eye lens becomes more rounded and its focal length decreases. Then a clear image of the object is formed on the retina of the eye.

2)The focal length of the eye lens cannot be decrease beyond some limit. Therefore we cannot clearly seen an object kept at a distance less than 25 cm from the eye.
