Early humans were known to be completely depended on agriculture for food and economy. In order to make good agriculture they water, more then enough water. So they chose coastal plains and alluvial plain for doing agriculture.

Northern plains or Indo-Gangetic Plain of India are such kind of plains that encourages agriculture and food production in India. This is known to be the bed rock of civilization and development.
