Why the number of stomatas present on the upper surface of a leaf are comparatively less than on the lower surface of leaf?

Main function of stomata is that it carries out transpiration .
Transition lead to heavy loss of water ((due to sunlight )) in plants ,
so to tackle this problem stomatas are located at the lower surface ((in more number)) as it receives less sunlight as compared to the upper side of the leaves which contains less amount of stomata.
