The poet decided to take the second road because he also wanted to have an experience of the things that were not common to everybody. That is the reason he chooses a route different from the rest. The poet was walking in the woods, and indeed he came across the fork while in the road. After observing each other, he decided to take the different path that was deemed less travelled by men.
