Why The Potential Is Less On Infinity?

In this case we generally choose the zero of gravitational potential energy at infinity, since the gravitational force approaches zero at infinity. This is a logical way to define the zero since the potential energy with respect to a point at infinity tells us the energy with which an object is bound to the earth.

Answer:
The only reason we choose it to be zero at infinity is because it's convenient - nothing less, nothing more. If two objects are separated by infinity, then they cannot interact, because electromagnetic force will never reach opposite side, thus potential energy is zero, even if electromagnetic force is not zero.
