Why there is no change in temperature during the melting of a solid?

melting is a physical change. So we know that the physical change is a change in which no new substance is formed

When solid melts, the temperature remains the same because the absorbed heat is utilized in breaking the forces of attraction between the particles and hence solids changes to a liquid state without changing in temperature.
