It is Because the south part of India have sea or ocean around and have fertile soil....where as the north part of India have no sea andon oceans around their is mountain and soil is not fertile and that's why it need to be irrigate.........and when water loos the capacityof fertility than we have to irrigate soil....

1.T he southern part of India have seas or ocean around it unlike the northern part that mainly has land borders on all sides.
2.n northern india mostly have very fertile,porous,and soft soil, making it easier to dig up well.
