The battle was preceded by the attack on British-controlled Calcutta by Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah and the Black Hole massacre. it was the main reason for the defeat of sirajudullah

Sirajdullah was defeated in the battle due to Mir jafar who was the commander in his army and he secretly was from the side if British so large part of sirajdullah army remained inactive under Mir jafar command and sirajdullah was defeated after this Mir jafar was appointed as the new nawab of Bengal who worked under British
