When the National Assembly was busy at Versailles drafting a constitution, the rest of France seethed with turmoil. A severe winter had meant a bad harvest; the price of bread had rose ,and often bakers exploited the situation and hoarded supplies. After spending hours in long queues at the bakery, crowds of angry women stormed into the troops. At the same time ,the king ordered troops to move into Paris. Rumours spread among the people that the king would soon order the army to open fires upon its citizens. Hence, with fear and fright on the morning of 14th July 1789,the agitated crowd stormed and destroyed the Bastille.

king Louis and marie Antoinette ruled people like autocrats and believed they were god representative on earth and choose to ignore the suffering of people which was one of the reason of storming of Bastille , the administrative machinery. also become extremely corrupt and arrest people without a trial thus people break the gates of a jail in Bastille and set all prisoners free
