Why was there a need of including characterics other than habitat, photosynthesis etc. to classify living organisms

This is because habitat, photosynthesis,etc. are very much broad criterias to classify millions and billions of organisms.

Explanation:

Thus, these criterias would not suffice the classification of these many millions and billions of species present on this planet, earth. Also, only plants perform photosynthesis. But, what about those organisms who do not.
