Article 17 of Indian constitution provides that untouchability is abolished and its practice in any form is forbidden. The enforcement of any disability arising out of untouchability shall be an offence punishable in accordance with law. Hope this helps you friend

practicing untouchability in any form has been made an offence punishable by law. thus article 17 has virtually erased the age long slur on the face of Indian social order
