Why water does not make equilibrium with the ice on surface of pond?

It is because ice has a porous structure through which air get passes and thus the ice floats on water and it's becomes lighter

Despite this exchange, there is no change in mass of ice and water. Thisis because the rates of transfer of icemolecules to water and the reverse process are equal at 273K and atmospheric pressure. It is evident thatice and water are in equilibrium only at a particular pressure and temperature. that's why water does not make equilibrium with ice
