Why were shoes not permitted into the courtrooms during British colonial rule?

As shoes were considered dirty, Indians were not permitted to enter the courtroom with them just as people take off their shoes while entering the holy places, in the same way they considered courtroom sacred so people were not allowed to take their shoes in.
