the linguistic states were created because at the time of partition of india and pakistan there wrre many problems caused
india was divided and beacame independent but their wase some princely states that were still ruled by the nawabs, they dont want to be merged in indua they wanted to become
independent country, ehat however we indians managed to merge them in indua.now it was the time to announce tha official or national language in 1990 , advani announced hindi as a main language, then the protest was started because in south or east or west peolpe generally do not speak hindi, the people started protesting and their demand was also started again to be independent country(not be the part of india)the the government was afraid because they have akready seen the condition when pakisthan and india was divided , they have a great, great loss, they took their decision back.
as per the public demand states were divided on ther languages and hindi was not compulsory for them
one of the fact wes also their that in india only 40% of people speak in hindi and rest speak their one language
so the main reason that the india should not divide again
I tried my best
