The British company eliminated the existing traders and brokers to etablish direct control over weaver. The company appointed a paid servant called Gomasthas to supervise weavers, collect supplier and examine the quality of cloth.
2.Once an order was place, the weavers were given loans to purchase the raw material. Those who took loans should handover the clothes to Gomasthas only.
3. gomasthas were considered as outsiders . they had no social link to villages.
4. Weavers were given less time to complete their work. If they failed to do work on time, Gomasthas marched into the village with Sepoy and peons.
5. Gomasthas very arrogant.
6. They punished the weavers for delay in work.
hence for the above reason here clashes between Indian weavers and Gomasthas

When Britishers came to India they found that were not the only one here who wants to trade. So, when they gained monopoly rights, they started taking advantage of the situation and took different action to reduce the competition. They appointed paid servants called gomasthas. These gomasthas used to visit villages and give loans to weavers. By this way they were able to take control over weavers. Earlier supply merchants belonged to the same village and look after the needs of the weavers. But now gomasthas took the charge in their hands. The main job of gomasthas was to get cotton garments from the weavers. When these weavers were not in a position to give the garments on time then these gomasthas, who used to come with a sepoy, start beating and torturing weavers. The weavers were given very less time to complete their work and so the clashes held between Indian weavers and gomasthas. The gomasthas used to behave very arrogantly and punish the weavers for delay.
