Why when two points in battery are directly connected leads to short circuits ?

Hi there,
when the neutral and positive wire touch each other then a large amout of current is drawn from a source this leads to short curcuit..As we know current needs a resistance to make a proper circuit and if there will be no resistance(any load like fan,bulb etc) then current would not drawn thus it will leads to short circuit..
