Why will simple diffusion not meet the requirements of all the cells?

Simple diffusion cannot meet all the requirements of all the cells in a human body because all the cells are not in direct contact with the external environment which resist them to meet their oxygen requirements.

☆If our body used simple diffusion, then it would take around three years for oxygen to travel throughout the body .

■thus,simple diffusion will not meet the requirements of all the cells.

■In case of a single - celled organism, no specific organs for taking in food, exchange of gases or removal of wastes may be needed because the entire surface of the organism is in contact with the surrounding environment.
