Astrobiologists find the subject of the possibility of life on Mars pretty interesting, yet there is no conclusive evidence as yet. The planet's proximity and similarity to the earth is making some scientists speculate about this to be true. However, the ancient surface of the Red Planet possibly had water in liquid form, but that does not conclusively prove the presence of life. At best, microorganisms may have been present.
In November this year, NASA reported finding water in the form of underground ice in the Utopia Planitia region of Mars. The total quantity of water was estimated to be the equivalent of the water held by Lake Superior in North America. Until further evidence is found about the existence of life in the past or present, it is safe to say the riddle is yet to be solved.
