Would gold and silver react with water? Why do we make jewellery of gold and silver ?

Gold and silver are used in making jewellery since ages. As a matter of fact, gold is used because of its fine lustre and rarity.

Gold doesn't tarnish and doesn't react with air as other metals like iron do. Furthermore, gold is extremely malleable and ductile as a result of which it can be converted into alloys to make minute designs which further increases its pride.
