Answer:  Tunicate is a chordate but not a vertebrate because it is included in subphyla Urochordate of Phylum Chordata. In Urochordates, the notochord is present only in the larval tail while in the vertebrates, the notochord is present only in the embryonic period. It is replaced by a vertebral column in the adults.
