N2 gas is evolved .
(NH4)2Cr2O7 →∆ N2 + Cr2O3 + 4H2O

2) By Heating Sodium Azide in vacuum Pure N2 is obtained.

NaN3 →∆ Na + 3/2(N2)

PREPARATION

(i) In laboratory :- NH₄Cl (aq) + NaNO₂ (aq) --(heat)--> N₂ (aq) + 2H₂O(l) + NaCl (aq)

(ii) By thermal decomposition

                Ba(N₃)₂ -----> Ba + 3N₂
