Dr Alexander Graham Bell was one of the ‘many men of genius.’ Dr Graham Bell knew Helen from her childhood. She was only 6 years old when her parents brought her to doctor Bell for advice on how to teach her. It was Dr Bell who suggested to them to contact the Director Mr. Anagnos of Perkins Institution for the blind in Boston. And thus he showed them the door through which Helen could pass from darkness into light , from isolation to companionship and from ignorance to knowledge. As a child Helen at once sensed Bell's tenderness and sympathy which had endeared him to the people. He accompanied them on a trip to the world's fair. According to Helen Dr Bell was profession in many fields of science. He had the art of making every subject interesting. He had humorous and poetic side too. His dominating passion was his love for children. He never felt so happy as when he had a little deaf child in his arms.”His labours on behalf of the deaf will live on and bless generations of children yet to come,” says Helen about Dr. Graham Bell. Her Autobiography ‘The Story of My Life’ is dedicated to Dr. Graham Bell.
